We made a command decision on Monday the 10th, I checked on the motorhome and it was going in but we were not sure whether it was going to be completed or not by Monday, the 17th which is when we have to be out of this house. We (Jan) has so much stuff to put back in the camper that it all wont fit in the honda so I decided that we should make a 130 mile trip to Billings and take a complete carload of stuff? and load it in the motorhome. We completed that chore about 5PM and decided to stay the night in Billings and go see Mel Gehrhart, her second cousin in Buffalo, Wyoming, which is another 170 miles away, the next morning. Mel is a western artist who was trained at the Maryland Institute in Baltimore and who she has never met.
We stayed at a Fairfield Inn where I finally used a gift card that I had received from the Division Mgr's at the railroad when I retired. We left the next AM pretty early as we wanted to stop at the Little Big Horn Battlefield which was on the way to Buffalo, Wyoming.
The photo is from the top of the hill where the ending battle took place at Little Big Horn where George Custer was killed as well as the hundreds of men that he commanded by literally thousands of Indians. This was a important event as the Indians won the battle but lost the war, as when word of this event got back to the east coast they sent thousands of troops and the Indians were promptly put on their reservation or killed.
We drove the battlefield as it is exactly as it was during the battle except for the roads and the visitor center. This is a federally national site so the taxpayer are paying to keep this place beautiful.
